Seventy-Four years ago on this day the area was hit by a powerful hurricane.  This photo shows damage to St. Mark's Church on Lyndon Street.  A note accompanying a smaller version of the photo describes the damage.

"3 Trees resting on roof.  2 windows broken, roof badly damaged both north and south sides.  Roof to be completely replaced."
